So I just bought a new 18TB hdd and the moment I plugged it in my Corsair HX1000i PSU died

My current configuration is as follows

CPU - AMD R9 3900x

MOBO - x570, Aorus Master

Ram - 16 X 4 - 64 GB 3600 XMP Enabled

GPU - 2080 ti Aorus

SSD - 2 X 1 TB NVME

HDD -

2 X 4 TB 7200 PRM

1 X 8 TB 7200 RPM

1 X 10 TB 7200 RPM

1 X 14 TB 7200 RPM

1 X 18 TB 7200 RPM

1 Corsair CPU Cooler w 2 fans 280 MM

6 120 mm Corsair fans

i have a 4K monitor, I always game and operate the PC at the same 4K resolution

I had a Corsair HXI 1000 which died, I am able to replace it, however RMA says it will take 10 business days, also I am concerned that it might not support my build

Hence I am looking for a new PSU, which and what capacity should I buy

Looking forward to suggestions

Thank you

Ishank

2080ti would pull about 350w max. The 3900x another 100w. 10w per hard drive 50-100 for everything else. And in real world scenario you wouldn't even hit that.

Also you said that the power supply died right away. That means the System wasn't even under load.

Yes that is correct. The PC is on 24 X 7. It’s a workstation. However I was travelling away hence it was off for about 2 weeks. I came back started it, and then in about 30 mins restarted it with the new 18 tab drive and it went off the moment I went into device management to configure the new drive.

If all you were doing was device manager then you weren't anywhere near 1000 watts

Okay, so which one should i buy now? I used the newegg psu calculator and with that it comes to 990w. Also newegg calculator does not account the 6 120 mm fans and the 280 mm cpu cooler

Also just checked the gpu site, it says 750 w is recommended for the gpu
