External HDD hijacking windows 10

ezio313

Hi, so I got this 2TB HDD from my cousin's laptop 5 years ago, installed an enclosure and all went fine.

2 year ago I dropped it and the enclosure broke, however I applied some paste and it worked again.

However, in the last year, it became really bad, loading times in games takes 5 min, and disconnects from usb 3.0 at slightest move. However it works fine on USB 2.0

I can't run chkdsk on it since electricity only comes 15 hours straight in Lebanon.

So before selling my old pc 1 month ago, I followed this guide to backup my system to it. https://www.windowscentral.com/what-do-selling-your-old-pc

When I bought my new PC and plugged the HDD into it, windows started running into problems:

  • stuttering in-game
  • windows preparing automatic repair loop
  • when I try to reset this PC is says could not find the recovery environment

I don't know what should I do,I took it to a repair shop to fix it but he refused.maybe I should delete the backup?
