240hz Laptop to a 240hz Monitor

Hello everybody!

 

I have a MSI GP76 Leopard Laptop with the following specs:

Cpu: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz (16 CPUs), ~2.3GHz

Memory: 16GB Ram

GPU: Geforce Nvidia RTX 3070

 

The laptop itself has a 240hz display, and im planning on buying a 240hz monitor for it, but the questions is if I do this, will I be able to get the 240hz on the monitor without any problems.

check the manual for support of HDMI 2.0 (or higher) to support 240hz 1080p output.

If it has a thunderbolt 3/4 port, you can use that as a way to get your 240hz

Your laptop came with mini-DisplayPort, unknown version as not even mentioned in the user manual, but I believe should be 1.4 and if it is, then no issue.

 

HDMI also not mentioned version but even it is HDMI 2.1 which technically better than DisplayPort 1.4 and support but some monitor did not support 240hz when connect using HDMI but limited to 144hz.

Your laptop have hdmi and mini-dp outputs. 30-series Geforce support hdmi 2.1, so unless MSi mucked about with that, it will support at least 1080p 240Hz (no idea how high this goes honestly). And the display port output can do 1440p 240Hz. You need to make sure the monitor you buy have matching inputs, but considering you have two options that should be no real issue.
