i did something in the nvidia control panel, and i don't know which option caused this.

my gpu temp, 1080ti sli, before the tinkering was 40/49 at idle, and 47 / 60 underload.

after the tinkering, the idle temps are 29 / 30 , and 40 / 43 underload.

that's is a big drop in temps.

i still don't know which option caused this, because i tinkered and changed a whole bunch of them.

i don't know, i just thought it's interesting to share, and if anybody would know why this happened.

thanks.

You could have turned it to performance mode where games now run at lower resolutions? Could have lowered some settings, Wouldn't know unless you posted some of your settings in the nvidia control panel. That is a good jump though

ok, this is what i have right now.

i had no idea what i was doing.

i just turned on items what SEEM quality-improving.

i think i turned on a bunch of items what people said should be off.

and i was aiming for the best image quality globally, not just in games.

thanks.

Yeah I do see some differences in my control panel though I shoot for MAX fps in my games cause I like the responsiveness. Its interesting how you are getting much better temps though. Maybe its being bottlenecked by the CPU? What sort of temps is your CPU running?

running on 5950x, even my cpu temp has come down to mid 30's from 40's at idle

this is really weird, i didn't change anything else but just in the nvidia control panel.

huh... Do you notice games looking better? or running smoother?(more fps)

not really..... nothing visibly different. maybe it's there, but my eyes can't see it.

no big jump in fps. except fallout4 now is topped at 60fps, whereas before it was all over the place.

i'm just really confused about the temps.

Yeah I gotcha, I am just curious if there is some sort of performance difference from your previous settings that may point us in the right direction. I may save these settings and give it a go myself and see if I see any difference in games. I run a lot of my games at pretty low settings so I notice a big difference when I jump to ultra cause I am used to looking at some shit graphics xD

i max out on video settings in all games. i always set everything to ultra or max. slower response time is ok, because i don't do any crazy competitive gaming.

ya, see if you can find out which item in the panel is helping with the temp.

i'm just curious and confused, but it's so nice now.

if you are still curious, i just happened to run the heaven benchmark today, and the max fps dropped by almost 100 now compared to previous benchmarking, so there must be something i did in the nvidia control panel.

but since my eyes can't see the actual visual difference, i'll keep the current cool temp setting.

That's interesting! I wonder if they have some sort of power limit or something like that limiting it.

i really have no idea why, but it's really nice to see my gpu temp dropped by 10 degreeC. now i can finally put up the side panel. i had to take it off to HOEPFULLY keep the gpu cool.

and this was a fluke, too. i was just curious and decided to play around in the nvidia control panel. i don't even know what i changed, and now both cards are about 10 degreeC cooler.

That is interesting. What case are you using as well?

be quiet 802,

3 front intake fans

3 top exhaust fans

1 rear exhaust fan

1 bottom intake fan

i'm thinking about making the top 3 into intake.....

if you searched my other post, i was having trouble cooling down the gpu, because they were relatively high temp. but i did something i don't know what in the nvidia control panel, and the temp for both gpu just dropped dramatically.
