So I have three monitors and 2 have the normal Windows 11 taskbar and my 3rd monitor randomly got a fat taskbar one day. I have been unable to make it skinny again like the other two monitors. I've done all the basic things like looking in the taskbar settings, updating, restarting, and unplugging and plugging it back in. Any suggestions?

Windows 11 seems to have really cut down the taskbar options for whatever reason. They no longer let you unlock it and resize it with your mouse. They let you resize it in the Registry Editor but when changing the size between 0-2 it doesn't fix it.

I think you found a bug in Windows 11... if there's no setting to adjust it then maybe file a bug report, iirc Windows has a feedback app for that. at least it did last time I used Windows as a daily OS like 3 years ago lol

Open task manager, and kill:

  • sihost.exe
  • dwm.exe
  • explorer.exe

Then run again explorer.exe from Task Manager

Does that fix the problem?

If not, then set the monitor with the large taskbarf as main monitor and revert your setup back it was. It should force a refresh and fix your problem.

When I make it my main monitor it fixes the taskbar but when I switch it back It goes back to being fat

How about you switch the main monitor, then, restart your system, and then set it back the way it was.

Tried both and no luck. I'm just going to hide it on other displays for now. Thanks for help
