ok so I have 800 watts of pc, a 4K tv, 2 displays and an apple

mac mini that would need to be connected to a ups, now I have backup generators in my place that can power everything but it takes 10 seconds for the engine to rev up, during which time there is no power, enough for the computers to die, now I need a ups, perhaps 2 that can sustain all of these devices for a minute at most ( if there are 2 ups’ one will

need to power 300 watts of stuff and the other will do the rest, I can’t change that as that is how the desks are placed) unlimited budget, the sockets in India are 220-240 volt and I have something around 15 amp breakers so pls help me find the cheapest ups that can fit the criteria either one or 2 ups’ will do ( 2 might be preferable as it’ll help with the wiring) note smart ups’ which connect with the generator or

something are not possible, all they should be able to do is sit between the wall and the pc’s and make sure the power is uninterrupted from the power going out to the generator automatically kicking in

I don’t know anything about ups specs, can someone pls explain what I should be looking for?

Cyberpower has by load https://www.cyberpower.com/in/en/tools/selector/ups/load and by spec https://www.cyberpower.com/in/en/tools/selector/ups/spec tools.

 

I prefer APC, but both companies offer good products.

As far as I can tell I need 6 outlets and the ability to sustain a 1200 watts for 3 mins or 

2 ups’ 

Out of which one need 2 and the other needs 4 outlets 

and the one with 2 outlets needs to support 300 watts for 3 mins and the other has to do about 900 watts 

note these numbers have been calculated to provide enough headroom for other upgrades 

apc tool is not popping up with anything no matter what I enter

It appears the tool only works with 120v offerings.

120 v is not possible in India 

also after further research the cyber power ut2200e is possibly a solution but I need atleast the ability to plug in 8 devices, would it be wise to plug in a power strip to the ups ?

On a quick glance, i only seem to be able to see ups’ rated for 600 watt output, i will plug in 250 watts of Mac mini and other stuff, and a core i5 12400 pc I built with a 650 watt psu, would it be enough to sustain all of them under load for 2 mins? The pc has no gpu

It's not a good idea to plug in a power strip. However I have safely used short multi outlet extensions. It's important that such extensions have no breaker or other protective circuitry.

 

If you scroll down https://www.apc.com/in/en/product/BX1100C-IN/apc-backups-1100va-230v-without-auto-shutdown-software-5-india-outlets-1-surge/ to Specifications you will see that you can enter a load and the page will calculate an approximate run time. An i5-12400 system with no discreet GPU will likely not draw more than 200W. In fact it probably would not go above 120W most of the time.

2 of these would work but what does without auto shutdown software mean? Does it mean when the power comes

back the ups doesn’t shut down?

Auto shutdown software allows the system being powered to be informed of the loss of primary power so that it can shutdown in a controlled way. Otherwise an attached system has no way of knowing that it is using battery instead of grid power. Typically there is a serial or usb port on the UPS that is used for signaling.

 

The BX1100C-IN does not have an interface port so it can't signal a system of the switch to/from battery.

So basically it can support the system for the 2 mins it would take for the generator to start up and then switch back, while I can use my pc like normal?

I’ll probably use 2 of these ups’ and have a surge protector between the ups and the wall to protect everything as only one outlets is surge protected assuming that they can sit between the wall and my decide and make sure power is not interrupted between it going out and the generator kicking in

Yes. Although I would refrain from initiating a heavy load during that period.

The UPS provides surge protection on incoming power. There is no need to provide additional protection. Consult the user documentation as there may be specific cautions regarding devices between the wall and UPS and between the UPS and attached devices.
