I am currently planning a new build, I have not had a desktop in years.

I noticed today that MicroCenter has the Rocket Lake CPU's on a great sale

I want to build a PC that would not have to be updated for a long time, with that CPU vs the Alder lake which is $150 more. Is it worth the extra cost, or just save the money and use to to buy a cooler?

the 12600k is also worth considering, it's better than the 11700k(at least imo, and based on specs.). still cost more, but not as much. i would avoid going with last gen, especially if you are looking for a long time build.

edit: some context as to what you will be using it for might help.

The 12600k is way faster than the 11700k.  The only 11th and 10th gen chips that should still be for sale ar ethe 10400f for people who need a 6 core and the 10105f for basic gaming builds.  The rest are outperformed by cheaper parts from zen 3 or alder lake.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.
