Amd RSR question

Gohardgrandpa

A friend asked me a question and I don’t have an answer, told them I’d ask on here and see what answers I get.

They have a rx6700xt, a ryzen 3600, 16gb ram and use a 1440p monitor.

If they are using Rsr, dropping the in game resolution to 1080p and using rsr to upscale it to 1440p they should be stressing the cpu more like they are playing on a 1080p monitor right?

The issue is they aren’t happy with the fps they are getting at 1440p in some games so they are using rsr to boost it

Would they benefit at all from a cpu upgrade like a ryzen 5600x ?

They are playing league, valorant, tarkov

What kind of frame rates is your friend trying to achieve? A 6700xt should perform admirably at 1440p. The 3600 will certainly be a bottleneck, especially if high FPS is the goal.

Also, if he does shoot for a CPU upgrade, go for 5600 without the "x." They are incredibly similar in performance and the extra cost simply isn't worth it.
