Hello,

I have noticed a strange noise coming from my PC, ive only noticed it since ive started playing RDR2.  I intially thought it was coil whine but the more I read about coil whine, the less I think that it is.  Its really difficult to find where its coming from because when I open the glass side of the case to try to determine which component its coming from, the noise stops.  It only happens when the temp of my graphics card is over 61 degrees.

Has anyone had a noise like this before? Is it coil whine and should I just get on with it or should I be concerned? You might need to crank the volume up a little to really hear the sound in the video.

The specs are:

Corsair RM850 Gold

Gigabyte Aorus Master RTX 3070 ti

Ryzen 7 5800x

NZXT Kraken Z73

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

That is an odd noise. My first thought is fan turbulence of some sort, especially since it goes away when you remove the side panel. Is the GPU vertically mounted (I'm 60% sure it's not, but it's worth mentioning since I can't really tell)? If it is and the fans are pushed right against the glass, that can cause noise like this to happen. That's just a shot in the dark though, not sure why there would be fan turbulence in that rig. It's not something bad that I'd be worried about, more just very confused.

Thank you for your prompt response, the GPU is mounted horizontally, I also have a GPU prop to mitigate any sag. I did a slight undervolt of the GPU which seemed to help it a little but when I was in parts of the game with a larger power draw, the temp went a little over 61 and the noise started again, intermittently.  Frustrating that when I open the side of the case the noise stops so I cant even get a detailed video.

I ran Time Spy a few times to try and replicate it but it doesnt do it on Time Spy, just RDR2.
