I'm currently saving up money to upgrade my audio setup. I currently have a pair of Sennheiser Game Zeroe headphones but I kinda wanna get an audio interface, proper headphones and a microphone. I mainly just play games and talk to my friends over Discord but I think I might give streaming or video recording a go aswell. I've been looking at something in the lines of a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen and like a pair of Beyerdynamic dt-990 pros. I don't really know a lot about audio stuff that's why I would like you guys to recommend me stuff!

Beyerdynamic's seem to be a popular choice, another person earlier was considering the same headphones. I'll quote what I said to them below, I recommended the HiFiMan HE400SE instead. What's your budget in regards to the interface and microphone altogether?

Quote

"DT990 Pro is an acceptable option depending upon your tastes. If you're not entirely sure on how to read frequency response graphs, I recommend getting into it. Find out how a headphone you like measures, and compare that to whatever you're researching. That'll give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of overall tonality. Personally, I think most Beyers are too sharp in the 5 or 6-10k region. Rather shrill listen if you're treble sensitive, I'd recommend the HiFiMan HE400SE instead. Better all-rounder in my opinion, also with the added benefit of planar magnetic drivers."

I'd say that's $400 altogether then, solid budget to work with. I'm assuming USD?

HiFiMan HE400SE's are on sale for $20 off on amazon.com, making them an even more attractive option by comparison to the DT990's.

The Neat Worker Bee is a microphone that I personally use, and can recommend. It's available in both the original and updated version at $80-$100.

The Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface is also something that I personally use. It's a great interface, but I could've saved another $70 by going for a Behringer UMC22 instead.

If you choose to go for the Behringer, that'd free up the budget a bit for an ever better microphone. The updated Neat King Bee sits at about $170, still perfectly fitting the budget. It's the next step up from the Worker Bee, although I will say it's a bit overkill. The Worker Bee would do just fine, just making a point of what you could theoretically fit in this budget. Also take into account the need for a gooseneck or boom arm. I personally use a 6-ich mic gooseneck paired with a desk clamp. It's a lot less intrusive than a boom arm and covers the same purpose. Also cheaper 🤫 but that can be our secret...

Sorry I didn't mention it but my budget is in euros as I live in Finland. 400 euros is about the money I'm willing to spend tho

Wow! Nice country, it's beautiful out there. 400 USD is roughly 380 EUR, so everything should still match up pretty close. I'll update the amazon links for you:

HiFiMan HE400SE - amazon.co.uk

Neat Worker Bee - Original / Updated

Behringer UMC22 - amazon.co.uk

Unfortunately I've had trouble finding a Neat King Bee listing on any UK or DE amazon variants. It's still available from a number of retailers based in North America, I'm sure most of which have international shipping.
