Windows Backup is Disabled BUT keeps Trying to Backup, and Always Fails

Modifyinc

My mom purchased a 2 TB external drive and connected it, and started to use W10's Windows 7 Backup. When I found out what she was doing, I told her she didn't need a 2 TB drive for her little bit of data, so she returned the drive, and I set her up to backup or sync her data to the cloud. The next morning she told me she received this error in the bottom right corner of her laptop:

"The backup path does not exist. Please check the backup path and retry. The program will retry automatically in xx seconds.
Retry or Cancel
"

I realized she left the schedule on for Windows Backup, so I turned it off. Yet, again the next morning, she still received the same error. I double checked that the schedule was off, which it was, so that was odd. I then went into services and completely disabled the Windows Backup. Rebooted the laptop and confirmed it was still disabled. Yet again, this morning, the same error is back! How is this possible?!
