80mm slim fan recommendations?

arjones67
Go to solution Solved by Zagna,

Noiseblocker has worked quite well.

Anybody have a recommendation for an 80mm slim pwm fan?  I need one for a small form factor build in the Hyte (iBuyPower) revolt 3 case. I usually buy noctua, corsair, or arctic, but they don't make an 80mm slim.

I have this fan in my HTPC. It's not, like, incredible, but it also isn't loud and it's PWM.

You have here 61  fans that are 80mm or 92mm, with less than 25mm thickness : https://www.digikey.com/short/24q5fr8q

You can filter to see only those with PWM control but the thing is most fans don't come with the header, they come with loose wires. You can  cut the connector (plus a short length of wires) from another fan and then solder the wires (or tie them and insulate them with electrical tape)

For example, Noiseblocker suggested above is max 2500 rpm , 26dbA and 14-52 m3/h or 0.233-0.866 m3/ min

You have 15 mm thick fans:

Sanyo Denki 80mm x 15mm thick , 2000 rpm max, 21 dbA and and 0.563m³/min (2 wire) : 109P0812M702 Sanyo Denki America Inc. | Fans, Thermal Management | DigiKey

NMB Tech 80mm L x 80mm H Ball 28.2 CFM (0.790m³/min) 2 Wire Leads 30dbA 2600rpm (2 wire) : 3106KL-04W-B40-B00 NMB Technologies Corporation | Fans, Thermal Management | DigiKey

Delta 80mm L x 80mm H Ball 28.3 CFM (0.792m³/min) 2 Wire Leads 30.5 dbA , 2700rpm (2 wire) : AFB0812MB Delta Electronics | Fans, Thermal Management | DigiKey

20mm thick fans:

Sanyo Denki 80mm L x 80mm H 20.00mm 23.7 CFM (0.664m³/min), 25dbA, 2300 rpm (3 wire) : 109P0812M601 Sanyo Denki America Inc. | Fans, Thermal Management | DigiKey

Sanyo Denki 80mm L x 80mm H Ball 29.7 CFM (0.832m³/min) 4 Wire Leads 26.5 dbA , 2900 rpm (4 wire) : 9GA0812P6M001 Sanyo Denki America Inc. | Fans, Thermal Management | DigiKey

... and there's more options, but they'll have higher dbA and higher rpm ... if you're never gonna run them at 100% they could be better than these lower noise at max rpm I linked above.

Thanks everybody.  I'm going to give the Noiseblocker a try.

  • 5 months later...

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to offer a recommendation. I managed to fit two of these ( https://a.co/d/cLlgPYL ) and thought I’d share. It takes some creative finagling and you can only use one screw on each fan, but they’re in and they work great. Used a Noctua pwm splitter for the CHA_FAN header on my Asus Strix B550i
