HDMI ARC Not working?

Hello, I recently got a new LG tv and it's all been good, except connecting it to my old speakers. I have a set of bose soundmates that i got got free, the problem is they only have analog in while the lg has no analog out. I tried an optical to analog, but the problem w that is that theres no volume control, esp from the remote, which is a big problem. I was looking into soultions to this problem that would allow me to connect my analog speakers to my new tv while still being able to control the vol w the remote. I found out that HDMI ARC (should) allow you to do this. So, i ordered this converter from amazon used for a super good deal. However, when i got it, i hooked it up and i pluged some hdmi cable i had lying around into it. And, nothing. I couldn't get any sound out. Nothing. I haven't touched it since, but i assume that the hdmi cable is to blame for this. Although i heard most hdmi cables should be able to work w arc. What should i do to get this to work?

 

Also, before ppl talk abt having to switch it to PCM audio out. I did. still nothing.

Here are some questions for you to investigate.

 

Does your TV support ARC?

 

Does it support it over only a specific HDMI port?

 

Is there a setting in the TV you have to adjust for it to work, like turning off the integrated speakers?

Yes, not only does it say ARC on the back of the tv, it's from 2021 so it supports arc.

Yes, but i had made sure to plug it into that specific port since its labeled as ARC.

I had set the output to HDMI ARC. I had tried to unplug and plug the hdmi back in when it stopped working and it said 'HDMI 2 AVALIBLE' soo

UPDATE: ok so i got 2 new cables yesterday that i made absolute sure they were both at 2.0, which is what the adapter said. However, still didnt work. so, i guess the adapter just doesn't work and i've returned it to amazon and got my refund. Hope to get another one soon.

Also make sure your TV audio is set to PCM, and enable CEC control

i triple chekced it was in pcm mode, still didnt work. I already returned it so

At this point, you might simply not be able to get them both working together. Have you considering getting a soundbar? May not be the best solution, but it's a solution that will definitely work.
