Windows since 7 has been a lot better about handling complete mobo swaps and shit without needing to be reinstalled.  It's good practice to still manually install chipset drivers from your mobo support page, but Windows should still at least be bootable with its defaults.

You're just swapping the CPU right? Nothing else?

If yes, have at it. There's no drivers to install or anything, it is a good practice to clear the CMOS to reset everything to default in the BIOS so it detects the new chip properly, but that's about it.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

Easiest way is shorting the CLRTC pins with a screwdriver for a second. Those two pins on your particular board are in the bottom right corner, just above the front panel connections and to the right of your bottom four SATA ports. It's a two-pin jumper connector standing on it's own, labeled CLRTC.

Other acceptable way is pulling the coin battery from the board after unplugging the system and holding your power button on for a few seconds to drain the system, let it sit for a few minutes with the battery out, then put it all back together.

There should also be a small button on the back of the board around where your periphials plug in, you'd press and hold that for about 20 seconds to reset it but the good thing is you don't have to rest the basics like your clock.

And if that fails or you don't have the reset button, the above post is good.

I've noticed a lot of boards have been doing that little switch on the back lately, but definitely not all of them. Used to be a little one on the board PCB itself was common on higher end boards, that's what I usually look for but it's not in fashion anymore I guess.

Asus usually doesn't put those kinds of "enthusiast" features on the TUF boards from what I've seen, but definitely wouldn't hurt to look because that's a nice, quick and easy way to do it for sure.

I believe it's more of a standard these days.
The older TUF boards had it for sure but since the days of AM3+/1151 the TUF line has been downgraded so it may not be on the newer ones.

No, you won't have to update anything or reinstall anything. It just sets all your BIOS settings to default values. BIOS is completely independent from your OS.

You will have to go in and set up XMP and stuff like that though.

If you were running Windows 11 say yes. 10 say no.
