Problem with the headphone jack

Hi,
So recently I got a new laptop (Dell latitude 7389) online. It was used and now I have a problem.
I plugged in my earphones and the sound was still coming from the in-built speakers. I thought they just didn't work, so I found another pair of earphones. And they also didn't work. So finally I decided to plug in the same earphones to my phone, and they did work. So then I thought the audio jack in my laptop was broken. But I decided to try one more thing. I plugged in my earphones but with USB c (this laptop has 2 USB c ports) and they also didn't work (The USB c ports are working, I tested them). I searched for answers on the internet, but I tried them all and they didn't work.
Can someone help me?

Maybe you can choose which sound output to use ? for example right click the sound symbol in the taskbar
