"Prosumer" printer. More "pro" than "sumer"

Go to solution Solved by Broseephus,

Ricoh and Cannon both make models that do all the full featured stuff in a smaller form factor.

Before I left my last job I purchased a Cannon ImageRunner C2230 that did Color/Duplex/Staple/HolePunch and all the other basic shit you would expect a high end copy machine to do.

It fit on a desktop. It cost around $3800.

Ricoh had a comparable model but I don't remember which one. Alficio something or other.

Hi, I have been trying to get a system that simulates my office workstation as closely as possible, and there is one area I know absolutely nothing about: printing.

In my office (which is 1000km away from where I'm currently living) I have a huge production printer that will do absolutely anything you throw at it. I'm not really looking for that but here are a few things I would like to be able to do, not all are necessary but I'd like to be able to do as much as I can.

  • Colour and black and white
  • Double sided. Preferably able to do double sided A3 and A5 as well as A4.
  • Support for at least A5 and A4. Preferably other sizes such as A3 and DL. Most of our printing is done in A5 and DL sizes, although we do go up to A0, but I don't reasonably expect anything available to consumers would be able to go higher than A3.
  • Support for high GSM, ideally 250gsm double sided and 300gsm
  • No limit for $$$. However physical space is restrained so I can't get a full Ricoh system. Available off the shelf (or online) would be awesome
  • As this will mostly be for mockups, I don't necessarily need high speed. Though print quality is important.

Thank you all for any help you may have :)
