Not getting an internet connection.

starwarsbeast

Right now I am having trouble with my internet, the connection is off and on throughout the day this weekend and my service provider has been no help. I’ve power cycled the system three times. I’m able to connect to the routers, they just don’t have a connection to the internet. My system has a DASAN H665 to convert the fiber, that then feeds the master ASUS router which is an RT-AX3000, that router then feeds the second RT-AX3000 in the mesh setup. If anyone is able to help I would greatly appreciate it.

So you’ve got lan but not wan?  Could be a DNS problem or any number of port/protocol issues.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I believe so, anything I can work on doing to resolve the issue?

There is a possibility it’s a closed port of something.  Looking at the logs might help.  They could say where it was failing.

how did you determine you had no connection to the internet?

if it's a dns problem you can ping 8.8.8.8 when the internet is seemingly not working and the ping will succeed; in which case setting up a manual dns (8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4) will resolve the issue

does restarting everything briefly fix the issue?

Can you check if your edge router(last router before the isp) is getting a public ip from your isp?

Thanks for the help, my provider sent out some guys and they tested it. Apparently I was getting to hot of a signal and it was shutting off the DASAN. They said my connection was enough to run 40 homes.

Lol.  There’s an unfortunate term. I don’t know if that is an acronym or a company name but it’s a not uncommon southeast Asian first name.  So there are a whole bunch of dudes in China going “wha??” or whatever the equivelant in Chinese is (might very well be “wha??” I never learned Chinese idiom)
