I currently have 16gb of gskill Trident Z Royal 3600mhz cl16. Full timings are 16-16-16-36. Exact model is G.Skill F4-3600C16-8GTRS. I want to overclock to 4000mhz (Idk what timings yet). Would it have any major performace gains? if so, what timings should I do

CPU: Ryzen 5800X

Mobo: Prime x570 Pro

Tridentz royal is usually b die and by the timings thats def b die, go have a look at some of buildzoids ram overclocking vids for b die rams like viper steel, tridentz royal, flare x, etc.

Since its tridentz royal you can expect your b dies to be pretty good so no worries about getting trash b die

If you want to get the full potential out of those rams id suggest having some airflow over them like a fan and running 1.6-1.7v depending on how risky you wanna be, the more volt the better since b die scales very well with volt, though i dont reccomend going over 1.7v since this is already in high ram volt territory, but 1.6v is fine since there are kits specced for 1.6v

For gaming, latency is usually more important than frequency. 4000 MHz vs 3600 MHz is roughly an 11% increase, but how noticeable that is depends on how much your use case benefits from bandwidth. You also need to take into account that 4000 MHz will require an Infinity Fabric overclock, otherwise it'll switch to 1:2 frequency.

Since you have the hardware, you're in the best position to test the results by running some games/benchmarks before and after overclocking.

Interested as well.  I have the same ram but CL18.  Only posting so i'll get alerts when others reply.

You won't, unless you follow the topic (button top right) or someone quotes you, like I'm doing right now. No need to reply first to be able to follow.

Remember to either quote or @mention others, so they are notified of your reply

I wouldn't expect 4000 with that CPU. Ryzen 5000 CPUs are usually limited to ~3800MHz while being in 1:1:1 mode. There are a couple that can go higher, but you usually end up hitting error correcting and the performance tanks going above that (though there are a couple 5600Xs and 5800Xs that can go above that, I just wouldn't expect it to go above that). It's B die, so I'd expect you to have something like 3800MHz CL16-15-15-28, give or take with 1.5v (usually about the most you can run without active cooling), with very tight subtimings. You should see a roughly 5% performance increase by going up and tightening the subtimings.
