So i want to build my computer and I want to have a very good price per performance ratio. I am planning on getting these parts.

APU: AMD A8-5600K

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5850

Motherboard: ASUS A55M-E FM2

Ram: 8 gigs of Corsair Vengeance sdram

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with picking a cheap power supply that has room for expansion. Also a cheap MATX case that doesn't look horrible. Oh and if anyone could tell me if im making the best price-per-performance decisions that would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

The system he listed above won't pull over 350 watts from the wall under any circumstances. Any good 450W PSU will do just fine, he doesn't need a 650 or 750.

I would recommend getting a Corsair CX430. CX500 for expandability.

He specifically requested a PSU that would allow room for expansion. A 650W PSU will easily handle an additional GPU or more drives or anything he could throw at it within a reasonable budget

true, but his build is obiously budged oriented, so I wouldn't recommend throwing $100 at a massively overkill PSU like the  HX750, especially not if a CX series PSU will do the trick just fine for him.

This does not have good price to performance....

Edit

This rig would be nice, the PSU is a 750w from a good company and take take up to two GPU's as can the motherboard. The GPU is crossfire compatible and adding another later would be a solid upgrade. More upgrades to consider later for this would be a aftermarket cooler to allow for safe temps while overclocking and an SSD or another HDD.

I'd like to welcome you to the forum. Enjoy your stay. What is your budget and your location? Do you have any parts that you coudle use form an older build?

The most I'm willing to spend on the hardware is like $450. I live in Springfield Oregon. This is a compleatly from scratch build, the only things i have are a mouse and keyboard.

How so? can you tell me what parts would yield better performance for the same price?

I edited my post, take a look.

Yes, a cheaper motherboard, PSU, and GPU but this is really close to your budget and would give you a great foundation with which to upgrade later since it would already be ready to accept another GPU and more hard drives. With a cheaper motherboard and PSU you would most likely end up having to upgrade them to get any better performance in the long run, but spending a bit more now and getting a better motherboard and PSU means that later you would only have to add another R7 265 to get a big performance boost. I know you said your budget is around $450 but it's only $50 more and getting this build would leave you in a far better position than getting anything cheaper would.

Mine would be better, the 750 Ti and the 265 perform similarly but the 265 is faster. The motherboard I chose supports crossfire and not SLI so another could be added which you couldn't do with the 750 Ti, the case I chose is also better as is the PSU. Also the 760k isn't worth the extra $10 as you could easily match the clocks with the 750k even on the stock cooler. Mine is slightly more expensive but it is much better in the long run.

@ system is better by far. The GTX 750Ti performs similarly to an R7 260/GTX 660, while the R7 265 performs similarly to the R9 270/HD 7850 and yet it costs the same amount of money as the 750 Ti.

If you want a good value/money machine, get mrpants' build.

He chose it so the OP can upgrade to a multi-GPU configuration in the future, and the price is extremely good.

Yes his one is sligthy better in therms of GPU power. ( Much better in the long run... What are you talking about? Gotta be kidding me) Why in hell would you Crossfire such a lowend card? Now it wins in GPU and CPu performace.

Also afaik the 760k and athe 750k aren't the same architecture and that is why it's better even if you match the clock.

You said that you wanted room for expansion, a 750w would have loads of room for expansion. My rig(listed in my signature) runs on a 750w PSU, not only will this run another 265 if you put one in there it can be used in a more powerful system later, plus it's a good deal and it's from a good company.

AMD's per core performance is crap and their IPC never improves so the only difference would be 3-4% but even if it were 10% it wouldn't be noticeable in any game. It's not worth it when the $10 can be used elsewhere. As far as the GPU goes the 265 is a midrage card and when you have a low budget getting a mid range card and adding another later is more cost effective in the long run if you can't get all the money together for a more powerful rig in one go. Scaling for two way Xfire is excellent in games and it's a legitimate plan. And the PSU is semi modular and the case looks better and is made better than the cougar case so despite the fact that the Core 1000 doesn't have cable routing holes cable management would be easy as pie.
