Affordable touch monitor (to be used flat on desk)

FliP0x

There is a similar discussion going on, but decided to make a new one, for suggestions and recommendations of touch screen monitors.

I did some search myself, found an article "Best Touch Screen Monitors of 2022" and none of them are in stock. Searched a bit on my own, found industrial ones that go for 1k to 3k USD each.. uhm.. nope.

What I am looking for is a touch screen monitor without a stand, as it will be used flat on the table. If it has a slight incline that works too, just not a desktop monitor stand.

To better picture what I need it for, I will be using it in music production to let me display and control my DAWs mixer, similar to this scenario:

In this case it's standing, I would either keep mine flat or at most at 45°. For my use case it is preferred that the screen is wider, to fit more channels on it, but not a requirement.

Are there any affordable (no more than 200 €) options? Anything I found is either over 1k or close to 1k, this can't be it though. How can touch screens be that expensive?

Look at drawing tablets? A lot of those will work well for you, but make sure they dont require a stylus

Good idea. Haven't thought about drawing tablets. I'd probably just take one as last resort. I'd prefer a proper multitouch monitor.

They do exist, eg. brands like IIYAMA, but those are more for industrial use and not so much for commercial use.

If a Galaxy Tab S7, with a 12,3" touch screen, can be had for 500 $, I suppose just a screen should be available for half that.

The Dell P2418HT, ViewSonic TD2230 and Acer T272HL look interesting, but there is no available stock on Amazon.

You could take a look at Duet Display ($9.99 app) + used / new Base model iPad

I'd try and see if you can find anyone using it for your use case to make sure it's as responsive as you need.

I think you're out of luck. Touchscreens aren't affordable at the moment. The workhorse for theatre lighting is the Dell P2418HT. I have the older P2314T.

Hello, a friend of mine has encountered problems in the purchase of touch screen. What factors should we pay attention to when purchasing touch screen?

What problems did he have?

What you should look for depends on what you need the touchscreen for, eg. multitouch compatible, input/output options etc.
