COD Warzone High CPU low GPU usage.

Hello guys!

So my problem is that my Warzone uses 80% of my CPU and only 54% of my GPU.
I have around 100 FPS and I think thats kinda low. I am rocking a 144Hz monitor with G Sync.
Are there any possible fixes for this issue? Or is this some kind of bottleneck? Or just the game engine is simply trash?

Btw. I am not running anything in the background when I am playing games only discord and game launchers.

My setup:

I5 10400F 4.0GHZ on all cores with BFB enabled. 6-cores 12-threads with a Arctic 34 esport duo cooler

ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3060 TI

32GB RAM 4x8 sticks in dual channel 2666 megatransfers/sec CL13

m2 drive 256 for windows and apps.

1tb samsung qvo ssd for games.

1tb seagate hdd for personal data.

AsRock B460M Pro4 mobo.

550W Corsair CV550

a lot of RGB vomit.

Asrock B460M Pro4 Performance Results - UserBenchmark

Thank you for your time! 🙂

probably cpu bottleneck. you need to check usage for each core and not just overall usage (but 80% is kinda high, which suggests some cores are probably maxed out)

Try updating drivers, especially the chipset driver.

Then try Iobit driver booster.

Cod has this issue for me too.i was bottlenecked with my Haswell i5, then I upgraded to a 12400f and my fps went from 30-60 to 90-140. Same GPU. CPU usage went from 100 down to 50 and GPU usage went from 60 to 100.

… its close to a cpu bottleneck, but from the looks it isnt quite there… but it still could be tbh.

Also I have zero interest in this game, but i played it anyway because  of so many people complaining -- i did *not* have any big issues, however the picture was very similar to yours… cpu not maxed out, but around ~80% on average as well…

Also, i got around  180fps, but not stable at all, which is kinda expected for such a game. What i ended up doing is lock framerate to 120fps, and i got pretty  stable 118-120fps…

So i do not whatsoever believe you would be able to run at 120fps+ stable since your GPU is weaker, not by much but still.

See above. Also not a reliable source, never was never will be.

IMO all you can do is try running low settings / maybe DLSS and lock fps to whatever is stable, maybe 100fps, maybe 110fps if you're lucky. Your "gsync" monitor should be able to handle that. Saying should because in my experience gsync doesnt even work -- sure it does something, but its not guaranteed to bring smooth gameplay, its too slow for that (basically snake oil, sadly)

BUT if you can lock the framerate it should actually be smooth (it was for me, 120fps, exactly  double of my refresh rate = hence smooth)

Idk if that helps you but its my suggestion anyway .

i mean that sounds about right depending on GPU. So what did you end up doing, just live with the unstable framerate i suppose?

Yeah I just live with the fluctuations, really the fluctuation are usually due to different maps. They don't feel that bad as before since now it never stutters below 90. But my GPU is only a 970 so I expect smoother performance if I were to upgrade.

yeah, cpu is definitely important in this. and yes, but you would still get fluctuations, unless you lock the framerate.

i really tried a lot, 4k, raytracing, dlss… every setting basically, and while there were some oddities, generally it ran fine and "as expected" .

23 minutes ago, 191x7 said:

yup… the settings in this are something else… i also got better performance with higher textures and raytracing… really odd, but maybe it was just shifting load from cpu to gpu and that helped. 🤔

but definitely i bet lots of people  struggle with settings in this, way too many options for such a game, plus "low" settings arent necessarily the "best" for performance (which is counter intuitive)

If the performance doesn't change when changing graphically intensive option then the issue is somewhere in feeding the GPU. That's usually the CPU.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to 1440p 144Hz+.

while iirc not every setting  has a "high or low" option - this is typical for a cpu bottleneck regardless.

i mean *maybe* higher res would  do something but i doubt it, plus this could be easily tested with.DSR, no need to buy a new monitor (if the current one is 1080p)

And anyways, i did not encounter this phenomenon, the game ran as expected at any res, and cpu was not an issue . And i kinda thought 10400 is faster than 3600, but not sure… 🤔

edit: ah, actually looked it up, its kinda the same… so i ultimately dont know what it is but expexting more than ~110fps "stable" is somewhat unrealistic with OPs setup - as ive already  mentioned, i guess.

Gotta go 12600 and 3080 for stable 144fps, simply. (and then i wonder why when gsync is as good as its supposed to be, which is debateable, admittedly)
