Clean block spots

Hello all, 

Just took apart my loop for maintenance and wanted to clean these spots off my block. Tried warm soap water and toothpaste with some success but some spots remain. Any idea what I should try to clean it off with? Ek says no vinegar but try metal polish. I bought Mr metal to try on it but will take a while to be delivered.
