Auto Changing Keyboard Layout

My laptop has a standard English (UK) keyboard layout, however I aleady had French (AZERTY) layout keyboard for my work desk. I was wondering if there was a way to automate the layout chnage. As in if keyboard with abc-xyz DeviceId is connected change layout to french and if not switch back. If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

possibly able to be scripted, but you'd have to have something constantly polling for that device.

 

in othrr words, not worth it compared to the two clicks of switching layout manually.

I would have thought it would have been posible to write a script that runs everytime a usb devices is connected or disconnected

If I understood you correctly...

If you are using Mac -> Karabiner-Elements can bind custom layouts to specific external keyboards, so you don't have to manually switch layout each time, if I'm not mistaken.
