i just recently upgraded to a new desktop pc instead of a laptop , but i had an ethernet cable as it would give me sometimes better internet speed but always a constant one where as now ive not changed a thing just now its my desktop instead of my laptop and its just flat out not working......

Which motherboard do you have?

heres the tihng i got a pc frokm asus so if i screwed up putting new stuff in like a graphics card i would still have some warranty but i have no idea what motherboard it is....ive tied look on it to see if it says the name like most but i doesnt....ill look on the asus website to try find it.....

Try this link on Asus' website. Put the OS you're using and then select the network drivers.

ive found that but i dont know what one is it the lan one cause if so me and my friend have downloaded it and it takes me to some setup but i have no idea what to do from there

Yup, it's the "Lan" one. That one is for the chipset for the ethernet port. Once you've downloaded them, run the installation. It will just ask you to accept the terms, choose the location to install it (the default choice will be fine). Click next and install. It should only take a few seconds and it may require a restart. Once it is donem the computer should recognise the ethernet port as active and once the cable is connected (your computer and the router/modem). It will establish a network connection  automatically.

 

It should work, with no problems.
