Truenas smb group share help

Hello. Im trying to create an SMB share for multiple users in truenas. So i have 2 users, A and B, and created a group called AB. I then created a dataset and then shared it via SMB called windows backup. So i set the ACL permissions to restricted, and deleted the owner@ portion, changed the group to AB and applied it. i then set full control under permissions.

Now, as A, i try to map the network drive, no dice. As B, i map it on an ipad and it works completely fine, able to copy paste etc. Windows keeps telling me i dont have permissions despite being part of the group. Now, if i set A as the owner, A can access the share, add and remove their own files, but cannot see anything B has added, whereas B can add remove files that A or B added. am i doing something wrong? i dont understand why B has no issues with permissions/ access whereas A is having so many issues. both accounts were set up identically.
