Is 32gb ram overkill for just using Win 11? No gaming

Just asking for a friend that is building her first rig.  She doesnt game at all, but just wants the fastest in-windows speed she can get.  I just built a new pc and went with 32 gb.  But my usage never goes over 10 gb.  Is 32 gb overkill for just running windows?

Thanks

Yes. 32 gb is pretty pointless if you dont use it

Until you do

It all depends on her usage. Is she will have 100 chrome tabs open, with crap ton of apps running in the background, then 32 is fine.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

You shouldnt have 100 chrome tabs open, its pretty stupid behavior lol. Chrome itself will become an issue before the ram at that point.
