2 GPUS one PC

For whatever reason I get dropped frames on my current rig which is a evga hybrid rtx 3080 and 9900k running on a 280hz panel when trying to stream valorant I'm using twitch studio to stream....i have 1.2gps down and 40mps up and i have a dedicated 2.5gb network card attached to get those speeds but theyre times where i get random frame drops and hit in performance when streaming could a dedicated encoder ( GTX 1080) could possibly help the situation or am I overthinking it

Well you'd downgrade the encoder quality quite a bit. And split up the cpu lanes even more.

are you using nvenc or cpu to encode?

What background tasks are running? (I cue and g hub cause pretty bad frame drops on my system in valorant for example, which would proabably lead to frame drops in stream)

I have trident z royals 32gb it's being control by the Asus aura imbedded into the motherboard

I normally play everything high you would think a 3080 that's water-cooled and a 9900k hitting 5ghz should handle 1080p without frame drops

I'm using the nvenc encoder on my 3080 but i feel like it's chugging sometimes so maybe a independent encoder would help

Yes although they say the encoder is not tied to the performance it does seem to have a performance hit

Would a independent NVENC encoder benefit the system at all?

No because you would be halving the data rate of the 3080 making it slower.

Adding a 1080 wouldn't fix your issue as nvenc doesn't really affect gaming performance

 

What does is OBS, try allocating it to different cores than your game
