I'm in an odd position, mainly because I didn't do my research, but is there a 3rd party software or directly through windows, for a mic mute at a windows sound settings level?

EDIT: Forgot to add key bit of information, I want to know if there's a 3rd party software that can mute at a windows level with a keyboard shortcut instead of going through the bajillion windows options to get to sound control panel

I dont know, if it is the exact same translation for english windows, but...

Right click on the little speaker in the bottom right corner,

go to sound settings,

look under the label "Input" and press device properties,

then click the checkbox for deactivate or pull the volume to zero.

But usually, a headset will have a button or other function to mute the mic.

And for video calls, there should be a button for mute (space sometimes).

And for skype you can configure push to talk.

My build:

CPU

Intel Core i7 9700 8x 3.00GHz So.1151

CPU cooler

be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim

Motherboard

MSI B360-A PRO Intel B360 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX

RAM

16GB (4x 4096MB) HyperX FURY black DDR4-2666

GPU

8GB Gigabyte GeForce RTX2070 WindForce 2X 3xDP/HDMI

SSD

500GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 2280

HDD

4000GB WD Red WD40EFRX Intellipower 64MB 3.5" (8.9cm) SATA 6Gb/s

Power Supply

bequiet! Straight Power 750W Platinum

Case

Fractal Design Define R6
3x bequiet! Silent Wings 3 PWM

Thank you for this, I forgot to specify how or if it's possible through a keyboard shortcut

You can use PowerToys, which is a tool from Microsoft, with various utilities. Video Conference Mute is one, and you can use it to mute the audio input aka mute your mic.

It also has a shortcut, Win + Shift + A to mute the mic system-wide.

You could try it, but I'm not sure if it satisfies your need.

I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.

In his video titled "I Visited Apple's Secret iPhone Testing Labs!", he has shown that he makes no effort to fact check Apple's claims, and takes it at face value. I do not believe he can be trusted as an Reviewer/Influencer.

On my keyboard there is a [Fn] + F10 shortcut to mute the microphone.

Maybe there is something similar on your keyboard.
