Randomly out of nowhere, ethernet connection stops working. I unplug and even installed a different pcie card and still nothing. Its not the cable. The port is lighting up green. I've changed the speed to 1gb. Enabled and disabled it. install and uninstalled it. updated drivers manually. Did a network reset. TCP stack reset AND STILL NOTHING! i've out of options and dont know what else to do.

Wifi works though 🙂

you did everything I was going to suggest. Are you using windows firewall? Maybe one of the profiles is set to block only ethernet????????? Turn off windows filtering platform and see if that works. If not, change cables, switch to different port on router. Are you getting activity lights?

Boot a bootable Linux like Ubuntu and check if the ethernet works. If it does, then the OS is the issue.

not a wireshark expert 😞

you can screenshot it here...

but first, run command prompt and type "arp-a" it should list the arp table.

Do you see any other IPs there?

type "ipconfig" it will list your IP, mask and gateway. Try to ping gateway, like "ping 192.168.1.254" for example, just replace this ip with your own gateway. Does the gateway reply?

While at it, make sure your own IP is proper, and not APIPA

Are there activity lights? Can you ping gateway? Is wireshark is showing tcp on the ethernet or wireless? The suggestion on another os is great. You can boot ubuntu (or others) from usb without actually installing. If it works on another os...windows is toast...reinstall. Post wireshark screenshot.
