HP elitebook 2540p problems

ok so here is what's happening 

i have an hp laptop the hp elitebook 2540p to be exact the hard drive failed so i got a new one but when pluging it in the laptop dosent go into bios 

i tried without the hdd in and the bios load up fine same thing with usb sticks it just dosent work and i really need the laptop right now

i saw and there is no secure boot option on legacy option in bios and idk how to update bios if usb dosent work

Why would you be running MBR?  As for going into bios have you hit the appropriate key to load it?  It just may be selected as “don’t show”.  Legacy often includes MBR which won’t have a secure boot feature.

ok so after some pure luck the usb started to work again and i installed linux turnkey into it for minecraft server anyways it shuts down after a few moments of starting it checked for high temps it was normal but then suspected the hard drive wich is new by the way and works fine so idk what's happening and its quite annoying and sorry for my bad english im french btw
