Hello. My current build is:

Ryzen 3 3100

MSI A320M-A Pro Max

5500xt 8gb

16gb ram 3200mhz

And lately I've been having some problems with the CPU temps, they are ALWAYS +50 degrees, and I don't think that's good at all.

So I've been planning on undervolting the CPU.

Now, i know that my MOBO doesn't support Overclocking, but does it support Undervolting? Thanks

And how do you know that? My 3100 never idled below 50c, 55c to 60c for idle for Ryzen is not unexpected. As far as undervolting goes, check your bios, if you see CPU VCORE or CPU Voltage under Voltage or AMD Overclocking tab.

Ryzen 3xxx runs much hotter than Ryzen 1xxx or 2xxx. Above 50 degrees is nothing to write how about. My 3600 ran at above 80 without throttling with a 120mm noctua cooler and that is completely fine and will not damage the cpu

HOWEVER, it is definitely worth it to undervolt. I got much lower temps and power consumption out of it.

All I did was set to AMD Overclocking and set a fixed voltage and multiplier. Actually not insanely hard.

Ryzen CPUs are "safe to run" up until about 90c, so your temps are nothing to worry about.

As it has been suggested, undervolting has a lot of benefits, if done right.

You can change your PBO Offset in your BIOS and set a negative offset from there. Undervolting, up to a certain degree, does not negatively affect performance (in fact, you get better performance most of the time). It just depends how much you want to fine-tune your system.

You can start with a offset of -10 and work your way down to about -25 when you may start to notice your CPU not boosting as high as it should. Every CPU is different so you will need to find your sweet spot. For my 5900X it was -25, some go for -30 or even lower. I noticed that my 5900X would not boost as high at -30 so -25 is my sweet spot.

Actually, on 3xxx CPUs it is best to deactivate PBO completely. It just doesn't work well and makes the CPUs very hot. Quite unfortunate. The newer ones apparently actually take advantage of that tech. Basically all guides for Ryzen 3xxx start with disabling PBO.

PBO Curve Optimizer is a Ryzen 5000 series feature. It is not available for previous versions of Ryzen. Also, A320 boards don't support PBO.

*Edit (misunderstood the reply) I don't know if they are bad, but I thought that the normal idle temps were like 30-40. my temps are like what you said (50-55-60) if it's not something to worry about, good, but if it's possible to lower them, that would be better. Thank you!!
