so ive recently had some problems with my computer, where my keyboard will have freakouts and randomly insert some inputs, which is no surprise considering that my keyboard has alot of dust and things inside of it.

however, i opened up a text file and it started writing things that i remember writing, and even inputting enter after everything that i had wrote in the past.

what should i do?

i havent clicked on any sketchy links or downloaded anything odd

Your post seems to imply that you have a keyboard that types things using only your (human) memory...? Or are we understanding this incorrectly?

I'm pretty sure he means it is typing things he's typed before.

First thing I would do is completely wipe your system and start over. Either it's a glitch or some misbehaving malware/keylogger.

Listing your specs might be helpful. Only other thing I can think of is if the keyboard has some macro capabilities and maybe some random things got assigned to certain keystrokes.

Being worried and not doing anything about it is as good as posting on creepypasta, gets nothing done. That is what I was implying, you want help then make it easier for us to help you...
I've already told you what to do, here I'll repeat myself in a bit more detal:
Tell us your keyboard model, operating system and which software (KB related) you've got installed (like do you have Logitech G HUB installed, or maybe you have AutoHotkey installed).
Simplest thing for you to try is to just plug in a different keyboard and see if the problem goes away. If it goes away then that is it, you just had a malfunctioning keyboard, if it the problem persists with a different keyboard then it is something software / driver related, perhaps even malware.

PS Quote people you are conversing with so they get notified, just how the LTT forums work... People rarely "follow topic".

no, i typed something out and then about 30 minutes to an hour later it began inputting the same thing, so maybe youre understanding incorrectly?

Ok, so here is the manual for your KB: https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_electronics/esuprt_mice_keyboards/alienware-pro-gaming-keyboard-aw768_users-guide_en-us.pdf
It has dedicated macro keys, and on-the-fly recording functionality:

Also has on-board memory, meaning the macros are saved to the KB, even if you disable the AWC (Alienware Control Center) they will probably still work.

My guess is that you've programmed them accidentally and you are hitting them by accident, hence why it is repeating stuff you've already typed some time ago.

I personally haven't used AWC, but macro recordings usually allow you to input a delay between keystrokes, so for all I know you could have a delay of like 2 minutes before macro starts executing, which would make it really hard to link "ghost typing" with you accidentally hitting a macro key 2 minutes ago.

Open up your Alienware Control Center and check if you have macros setup:

Obviously delete macros you don't want, if you find any.

If this isn't the cause then maybe the KB is defective, just try with a different KB for a day and see if the problem goes away.
