Custom resolutions can either be set in the nvidia driver panel or intel hd graphics driver panel. However not all are supported as your monitor panel might not support them and it would fall out of range resulting in a blank screen. If your resolution doesn't work then it most likely is not within display range. If both drivers do not allow this it is most likely for a similar reason.
