I am interested in getting a subwoofer for my computer-monitor/tv(asus ROG swift pg43uq) and I am wondering what "accessories" I would need to make that work properly, because in both James's and Clarence's intel extreme tech upgrades they both had extra stuff to go along with their speakers and subwoofers like AVRs and dacs, amps, etc. So I just want to if there is anything else I would need to have the best and audio experience and seamless setup process.

thank you

For me, I just use an HDMI cable from my GPU to AVR, and then ARC to the TV. I mostly listen in 2 channel, enhanced stereo on all channels., but make the change in the control panel for multichannel stuff. Outside of that you just need a cable from the sub output from the AVR to the input on the sub. If you need more than one sub you can use a Y adapter. I have my PC, TV, AVR, Sub, and Cable box plugged into a line conditioner as well.. Lately I have been thinking about getting a nice soundbar..

It depends on what you're trying to do with it.

Is there only a computer hooking up to your sound system? If that's the case, you just need to pick an active sub you can hook up to your motherboard. If you're hooking it up to a TV with multiple sources, you're gonna need additional components to get audio routing figured out.

Why don't you give us a list of the equipment you have and someone can point you in the right direction.

If I understand you, you are using the speakers built in to the monitor and want to add a sub, is that correct? If that is what you are planning, my advice will be to use your money on a proper set of speakers instead of a sub
