Budget (including currency): idk 3k?

Country: Slovenia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Main in gaming, maybe stream

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Right now i have:

  • CPU: i5 8600K
  • Motherboard: ROG STRIX B360-F Gaming
  • GPU: GTX 1080
  • RAM: 16gb

i am looking to get:

CPU: i9 12900K

GPU: RTX 3080 OR RTX 3090.

RAM: 32GB

So i dont know what is best motherboard to use for this i9.  I was reading its best z690 but do i really need it? 500€ for motherboard?

i need suggestion what to build. what would be the best to fit together.

Heres a pcpp as a guide on what i reccomend

https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/z8HsJM

Italy cause thats close to slovenia

mainly chose value over aesthetics but you can do whatever you want with aesthetics as long as you dont go too overboard and waste your entire budget on aesthetics (no more than 50€ on pure aesthetics like fans, case)

12700 is enough for gaming as 12900 only gives extra e cores

Cheap z board just because more features and some ocing stuff if you wanna mess around with that. You wanna go for a cheap z board but tons of features like boat loads of i/o and ignoring beefy vrms or anything focused on oc as overclocking doesnt matter cause cpu oc has been dead since 9th gen

Cheap cooler, it doesnt need to be an overkill aio or massive aircooler, just a decent dual tower or a beefy single tower

Rams wise you can go for good cheap rams like ballistix and run decent ram speeds like 4000 cl16, but if good cheap rams like ballistix are unavailable/overpriced then go for the cheapest 3000/3200 cl16

Ssd wise you want to get a fast gen3 as those are usually not that expensive, something in the 3000+ mb/s r/w range

Cause wise its mostly aesthetic but you may want features like rgb, i dont reccomend spendibg over 100€ on a case as thats only worth it when buying a larger case, any small case that pricey is just overpriced trash

A decent 850w should provide decent upgrade headroom but if 750w is alot cheaper (>10€) then you may wanna consider 750w

Gpu wise depends on what settings you play, midrange cards are usually preffered cause high end get obselete real fast and next gen will offer better performance so upgrading somewhat frequently on the gpu (every 2 gens) should be good for performance

Its only a reference/guide build so youll have to find your own parts that are available in slovenia

Do you know which motherboard manufacturer you aiming for? There's a lot of Z690 models. Some with DDR4 or DDR5 dimm's. Some fully-loaded and some just basic.

Any model you have in mind for 500 euro's?

Well this is a great motherboard. It's fully-loaded with options as well. The only minus that I see is that is limited to DDR4. DDR5 is around the corner but honestly, the way the world is evolving now and the prices for hardware components are very high, it's a hard decision to choose at this point. In my point of view, I would stick to DDR4 because it'll be more cheaper this year. Depending on your needs you can obtain a very high overclocked frequency on this motherboard with DDR4. DDR5 is fresh and very expensive so it depends on how much really do need that boost from DDR4 to DDR5? In my opinion, if you want that CPU, GPU and random access memory for gaming, this is a very good choice with the motherboard.
