What did you recommend?

Neither and save yourself up for a CPU upgrade. a locked 8700 isnt going anywhere higher if youre not thermal throttling.

I did like to switch air cooler to a liquid cooler but I don’t know what cooler is the best

If you arent even overclocking then a liquid cooler is useless, save up for a cpu upgrade and if you decide that you want to overclock then make some sort of custom loop that can keep cpu under 60c at high volts like 1.5v cause cpu oc is dead and you wont get any real freq gains unless you make a ludicrously overkill cooling system that can run the cpu near ambient or sub zero, even then cpus are already so fast that its pretty much pointless

Two things. Liquid isn't just magically better than air. Water has better thermal conductivity than air, but you still have to dissipate that heat somewhere. In that regard, your case isn't doing you any favors. If you can top mount an AIO as exhaust, it would probably be okay, but it doesn't look like there's enough room at the top from pictures. Front mounting is just going to suffocate the already limited airflow there, and pump more heat back into the case. In short, it might actually even worsen your temps from where they are now. An air cooler has the inherent benefit that it moves air within the case, which helps a mostly exhaust oriented case design like this.

Second, even if adding an AIO did magically make the chip cooler, you have to be able to do something with that extra thermal headroom for it to be worthwhile. Unless you're thermal throttling currently, the CPU is already performing as well as it ever will, since it's locked. Cooling it further buys you nothing.
