Hiya,

I have a custom built pc running an i7-8086k and a palit 3080 gaming oc. I have 32gb of ram at 2666mhz and I was wondering if I have just have the system poorly optimised or if there are any bottlenecks I play games such as rust where i average 50-70 fps on high settings.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks 🙂

Does the GPU hit 100% usage? Do any of the CPU cores hit 100% usage?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

How would I be able to check my CPU core usage?

You can enable that in MSI afterburner's overlay, or with task manager, go to show more, performance, right click the CPU graph and tell it to show logical processors.

just checked and the overall utilisation is 80% there are instances where 3 or more of the cores are at 100% usage.

Rust, Tarkov, CSGO and Apex are the games I normally play

actually this is not a bottleneck, the i7-8086K with RTX 3080 is safe from the bottleneck, it also depends on the graphics settings in the game and the optimization of the game on the hardware running the game and have you made sure that your drivers are updated?

Slow RAM can be a bottleneck. Better get a 3200C14 or 3600C16 kit.

What's the brand and model of your current RAM?

What's the brand and model of the motherboard?

I was thinking that could be the case. I have Corsair Vengeance ram currently and a msi mpg z390 Carbon Pro motherboard
