Can windows 10 be used for free?

CriSis_

Hey,

I’m looking at using windows 10 home as my os but rn don’t want to buy a key from a sketchy place or pay Microsoft’s high prices haha. Is it possible to use windows 10 home for free (with the water mark) without a key?

Thanks for the help,

Lex

Short answer is yes. You just won't be able to customize stuff but other then that your fine.

Is it just cosmetic (wallpaper etc) or do I loose other functionality? Ty for the quick response btw 😁

Here's a list:

Quote

Activate Windows Watermark

Inability To Customize Your Computer

  1. Background (Wallpaper)
  2. Accent Colors
  3. Lock Screen
  4. Themes
  5. Fonts
  6. Taskbar

Some say you lose the ability to update the OS at some point(Salt) but I never had that problem.

Windows XP, Vista and 7 blocked you from getting updates after a 30 day grace period, but none of the newer OSes do that

Highly knowledgeable in all the obscure 2000s hardware & software you'll never need to ask about

In terms of Windows EULA, no. But currently Microsoft doesn't enforce things. They are very happy to sell your data since you are too cheap to pay.

PS. Price for license is cheap in comparison to most other parts of your PC.

I do intend to buy a license but just wanted to know if I could use it for free for the time being (with watermark and limited cosmetic choices) since I'm out of money atm.

You will have trial for the first 30 days anyway.
