windows activation error help

I did a clean install of windows 7 but when I try to activate it do does this and yes Im sure I typed it in right. any ideas?

Have you already used this code on another system?

No but I got it off a old laptop that originally had Windows Vista on it when someone upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate
