MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

JasonIsBoss

Hi guys I'm new here but I want to know is will a MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk support a RYZEN 5 5600x, Now I have researched a bit but it gets very confusing since I'm new to pc building but I want to know.

1. will it support it will I need to bios update?

2. is it good enough for a RTX 3060 with RYZEN 5600x

Thank you.

  1. Yes and probably not. But if it does the motherboard is able to flash the BIOS without a working cpu.
  2. Yes.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

From what i have seen it does have flash bios, And another question will it be able to just run out the box or what if you plug the CPU in without the needed software?

Probably. There's a chance it won't but it's a very small chance.

It just won't turn on. The CPU LED will turn on and never go off. You would then need to go through the effort of updating the BIOS.

I got the B550 Tomahawk and 5600X combo as well. I'm using Crucial Ballistix CL16 3600 Mhz RAM. Works like a charm. 🙂

I don't use an AIO. Just the stock cooler in a well-ventilated case. I never had any problems with temperature (it gets to around 75°C under max load which is perfectly fine).

And still you got advice. What a great day. At least here 12400F with motherboard is about 50-70€ cheaper than 5600x. Not bad for equal performance.

FWIW, my B550 Tomahawk's box had a Ryzen 5000 Ready sticker on it. It wasn't the latest BIOS but it was new enough.
