Hello All,

I am currently trying to upgrade my router, I just got fiber from AT&T but it is unfortunately located in my basement while basically all usage is on the second floor. I currently have orbi's mesh system but that isn't doing the job I am maxing out around 50mbps which that, I have tried using coax to ethernet module, but that is maxing out at 80-100mbps. If I am directly plugged into the AT&T modem/router I get ~900mbps and wifi in the basement I get ~600-700 depending on where.

Any suggestions or advice on how to make my internet better.

Coax to ethernet module?

Huh?

Orbis had a bug in firmware 2.5.0 that required a factory reset.

How was speed before the internet upgrade?

MoCa 2.5 https://www.amazon.com/Hitron-Ethernet-existing-Backbone-Streaming/dp/B08MQG6T61/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=Ethernet+Coax&qid=1644632499&sr=8-4 This is what I tried using but seems to be capped at 100mbps

Im on firmware V2.7.3.22

the speed was similar my last internet was 100mbps so still the same on that front.

Can you explain a little bit more the topology of your network? ¿where are the Orbi's connected? One should be directly connected to your ATT router via ethernet cable and the second wherever you need it, with one of the radios configured as backhaul to the first.

Right now I have the AT&T modem connected to the MoCa 2.5 via ethernet cable, then the MoCa 2.5 is connected to a coax cable coming up to the second story thru the wall plugged into a another MoCa 2.5 to convert to back into the ethernet, that ethernet cable is then plugged into the Orbi Router. I have two Orbi satellites on the first story to help wifi down there.

Is the Coax in the walls RG6? If you have older coax that could cause issues from what I have read. OR do you have any splitters in line as well? Splitters cause signal loss. One last thing, is the AT&T box setup in Pass Thru mode?

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Take ethernet the cable that come outs from the MoCa and connect it to a laptop, do some kind of speed test  via iperf if available or any other option.

This way you can discard (or confirm) if that coaxial adapter is giving any trouble.

Going straight through the MoCa I get around 400-500mbps so that is slowing to down but best way for me to get it upstairs. since when I tried using the Wifi from the AT&T box upstairs I was only getting around 25mbps, same with orbi.

Yeah the Coax is RG6, Im not 100% sure if there are any splitters, I don't believe so since there are only 2 coax cables coming up in the basement and I know where both of them go. The AT&T box is setup for pass thru

This rules out the MoCa adapter and the Coax, even if its old, 500mbps of bandwidth is 5 times more what you are getting right now with your orbi. I don't have that device to test what should be the configuration, so you should try to make sure that the first Orbi is using the Ethernet as primary connection, and run the tests again without the secondary configured.
