Looking for a new monitor

rpalmz46

Hi,

I was looking for help and suggestions on a new monitor to get. I currently have a Dell S2417DG 1440p 165hz G-Sync Tn Panel Gaming Monitor. However I was looking to either try and get another monitor either 1440p similar refresh rate or 4k at 60hz. The main thing I'm looking for overall in a new monitor is one that has better color display. I find with this one I see lots of color banding in dark environments and I feel as though the colors that do appear always seem a bit washed out even with significant tweaking and was wondering what a good upgrade would be.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated buying a monitor or looking to buy one always feels so challenging.

The couple I was looking at so far were, https://www.amazon.ca/Asus-Gaming-VG27BQ-Monitor-DisplayPort/dp/B07WQ4FXY9/ref=sr_1_11?crid=32CG455MCYWCW&keywords=1440p%2Bva%2Bmonitor&qid=1644187220&sprefix=1440p%2Bva%2Bmonito%2Caps%2C76&sr=8-11&th=1 & https://www.amazon.ca/Asus-Gaming-Vg289q1a-Monitor-Adaptive-Syn/dp/B083Z2RPB9/ref=sxin_14_ac_d_rm?ac_md=1-1-NGsgZ2FtaW5nIG1vbml0b3I%3D-ac_d_rm_rm_rm&crid=2377PHP2ICSQS&cv_ct_cx=4k+monitor&keywords=4k+monitor&pd_rd_i=B083Z2RPB9&pd_rd_r=0f74f0b3-1326-465d-b440-e44faf8a7d23&pd_rd_w=Bn9wO&pd_rd_wg=DwGyJ&pf_rd_p=9d3bab83-da21-4400-9769-ce78809c5afe&pf_rd_r=SXCA2103XQRTMCM5M4T3&psc=1&qid=1644187491&sprefix=4k+monito%2Caps%2C87&sr=1-2-12d4272d-8adb-4121-8624-135149aa9081

I personally prefer 1440p 144hz than 4k 60hz, so if you want 1440p you could go for: Gigabyte M27Q for budget monitor or MSI MAG274QRF-QD for best all rounder. But it also depends on price, for example in Australia I would recommend Dell S2721DGF as it has big sale every now and then.

For 4k resolution I would recommend Gigabyte M28U if you can afford it. I would regret any day if I'm downgrading refresh rate from 144+hz to 60hz.

Yeah i originally wanted to go 4k 144hz but the monitors are too expensive and my 3080 i doubt can output that in all or even very many games. The dell one you linked seems like it looks nice its on sale as well for me atm for 32% off. What is the important thing I need to look for when it comes to new monitors to get nice and vibrant colors on the display.

The MSI one I've listed has one of the best Rec 2020 coverage iirc, so if you care about the best colour coverage you should go for it. But whichever you get, whether it's MSI or Gigabyte, it would be huge improvement over TN in colour.

I own LG 34GN850 and my siblings have S2721DGF which uses nano IPS tech, and I'm still wowed on their colour vibrancy.

Yeah ive wanted to get a better more accurate monitor for a while and upgrade from TN panels basically the only monitors I've ever used were TN. I was just trying to do research and see if its going to even be a worthwhile upgrade over my current one and if it was which monitor to get.
