Hey everyone, I think I need some help with upgrading my PC…

I have been building PC’s for about 6 years now, and each time I needed an upgrade I just build a new PC and sold my old one.

But… This is quite an expensive practice and I am looking to upgrade my current PC instead of building a new one.

Specs:

-CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor 3.70 GHz

-GPU: Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB

-Ram: 2x corsair 8GB 2133MHz (16GB tot.)

-Mobo: B450 AORUS ELITE

-Storage: 1x 1TB samsung SSD, 2x WD 2TB HDD.

What part should I replace first to improve my performance? I mainly use my PC to game.

Thanks!!

Right now your bottleneck is your graphics card, if I were you I would get a better graphics card (maybe a used 2060/2060 super - due to the fact you get DLSS) and if you have the money upgrade your cpu to a 5800x

Hope my response helps 🙂

That memory is going to be a bottleneck on that CPU, you're easily losing anywhere from 5-20% FPS running at 2133mhz.
I recommend 3200mhz minimum for 2000/3000 series Ryzen and 3600mhz is optimal.

DOUBLE CHECK IN YOUR BIOS make sure you have the memory XMP profile enabled if any, 2133mhz is the default most motherboards run at when you put a build together before applying the XMP profile. You might have faster memory and not even know it!

Just checked my bios and you’re right! I didn’t use the correct settings so my ram has been running at 2133MHz for over 2 years now.

My ram is now at 3200MHz and I’m having a noticeable smoother experience.

Thanks!!

If you update the motherboard to the latest BIOS, you can also just upgrade the cpu to a 5600X. Make sure you get at least a decent cpu cooler as well, if you don't have one already.
