Sup?

I am planning on buying a PHAT gaming laptop and plugging in a 165 hz and a 60hz monitor as well as a 2tb SSD, however I have no fucking clue what to buy, I'm not worried about the monitors bc they're easy but suggestions would be appreciated (1080p ig idfk) and so I need help with the external SSD for my steam library. I have literally no idea which one to get. Price is not an issue I'll drum up the money somehow, but which one to buy?

the laptop im looking at is the:

Also i would love some help with the monitor shiz biz

Thanks so much any help is much appreciated

External SSD? Like one you plug in through USB? Or a second SSD which you install into it? There is a difference and does change what gets recommended.

thanks for the reply, one you plug in, like a little box on the desk which has a wire into the laptop, not one put inside the laptop

In that case, I'd be hard pressed to recommend anything other than the WD Black. You can get those things in up to 12 TB. My stepfather uses an 8 GB one for his XBox Series X games and has had no issues and he's constantly on it. So long as you don't game by like jerking the computer around, it's a solid external ssd. After all, you really don't need that high of speeds if you're going through the USB port anyway.

Though I guess if you want pure unmitigated storage capacity, there are ways to make interal hdds act as usbs, just got to get a housing that supports it. Though frankly the only way that's any better is if you're going to just absolutely spend the money on a huge external drive enclosure and put multiple drives in it.

First off, do you really need a laptop?

You will get better performance from a desktop on a dollar to dollar basis.

What's the reason for an external drive as opposed to internal?

PSU Tier List   AMD Mobo Tier List   SSD Tier List

If your issue is resolved, please share the fix with the community.

I'm looking for portability mainly, I also have very little space on my desk

The laptop you picked out is nice.

Although, you may want to wait for Ryzen 6000 to come out, as it's rumored to be a nice leap forward in terms of compute power and battery life.
