Budget (including currency): Not the biggest factor, maybe... 5K USD max?

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: PubG, some minor ML work, though most of the heavy lifting is on AWS. Would play other games, but not much can run on my GTX 760 currently.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am upgrading from a 8 or 9 year old build. I'm a bit older, have the room to splurge. I know there's no future proofing, but I've used my build for 8+ years without major issues and am hoping to give my self the best chance to do the same with this build.

CPU: Intel Core i7-12700KF 3.6 GHz ($390)

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 ($100)

MOBO: ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A ($350)

Ram: Teamgroup T-force Xtreme 3600MHz CL15 2X8GB ($175)

GPU Gigabyte AORUS Master RTX 3080 Ti ($2400)

SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB ($220)

PSU: Seasonic 1000W 80+ Gold ($200)

Case: Phanteks Eclipse P600S ($150)

Currently $4k~

Obviously painful to drop so much on the GPU, but I've been waiting long enough to see if the price comes down, and I don't feel like they will... Any feedback would be appreciated.

My monitors are also very old (about as old as my desktop... old enough that they don't have HDMI ports... using DVI) but that can be a separate thing. Honestly, haven't done the research, so would love any good recommendations, though I haven't done enough of my own research to justify really asking for advice here.

Thank you

Well.. That will certainly get you where just about anyone is going.

Your CPU is pretty much a boss for just about any gaming application commonly experienced.
The cooler is about the best air cooler on the planet.

The only thing I might consider at this price point (Because I am about one step ahead of you in the exact same process and budget range) is whether to step into DDR5. Yes, we're in early adopter stage right now, but it sounds like you are like me in the fact that you run systems for a good long time, and if thats the case, DDR5 might be a better option. Just y thoughts.

D15 is great but get thr chromax black or dark rock pro 4 if you dont want a beige cooler

Board is overkill, z690a pro or tomahawk should be enough if you wanna do any ocing and have a decent amount of i/o

Rams are just stupid, they seem to be b die rams so completely pointless unless you wanna run 4000 cl14 or higher, though value wise its gonna be terrible so get some crucial ballistix instead, they do overclock pretty high (4500+ cl18) and they can do decent timings too (4000 cl15-16) so get those instead, heck if you want 32gb then youll have pretty much the same ocability as 16gb cause single rank which means 4500+ is still possible unlike dual rank b die where you need to have a really good board or get really lucky to run high speed on dual rank, not to mention the imc being stressed to sht with b die dual rank cause b die is already stressful on the imc

You may wanna get a 3090 if you feel like you need 24gb vram, it is a splurge build after all

Ssd sucks ass cause overpriced when gen4 ssds like aorus gen4, z440, and rocket 4.0 annihilate a 970 speed wise cause gen4. Either get a cheap gen4 ssd or a cheaper gen3 ssd like the silicon power a80, crucial p5, sx8200, etc.

Psu is def overpriced, either get a 1200w platinum or a cheaper 1000w gold like the antec high current gamer extreme or whatever its called

Personally, spending ~$350 and not getting a POST code on the motherboard is just unacceptable to me. It's a fairly cheap feature to implement and it makes your life so much easier when you inevitably need to troubleshoot something on the system. Either spend less on your motherboard, since honestly the MSI Z690 Tomahawk or even the Z690-A Pro will give you the exact same experience for less money, or go DDR5 so you can get a POST code.

If you're gonna go the DDR4 route, you can spend less on the memory and get a faster kit. It looks like you want Samsung B-Die, and this kit from G Skill is $15 less and a better bin. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GYsnTW/gskill-trident-z-rgb-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-4000-cl16-memory-f4-4000c16d-16gtzr

If you're gonna go the DDR5 route, get a board with a POST code. The Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Pro is the cheapest board that has one, and it's a very solid board for the money. If you don't like Gigabyte BIOS (understandable), the MSI Z690 Force has one for not much more.

For the PSU, you can get an EVGA SuperNOVA G6 for $50 less. It's a similar quality unit, so you might as well save a bit of money.

For the DDR4 build, you have this

For the DDR5 build, you have this

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/T8bFfv

Both of these are more expensive than you need, but would do great. Personally, I'd probably go for the DDR5 build since I can't live without a POST code, but that's just me.

As for a monitor recommendation, the Gigabyte M27Q is a very good option for the price. If you want a 4K panel, the Gigabyte M32U is another option for a great price.

The i7-12700K is often a touch less expensive than the i7-12700KF.

Memory modules are 49mm tall. With the NH-D15 outer fan in its normal position, space under it is 32mm. There is room in the case to raise the fan. Regardless, it seems rather pointless to use blingy memory modules when they will be obscured by the cpu cooler.

If you want the looks of the memory modules, consider using an AIO for cpu cooling.

You might consider an RM1000X PSU. It can be a bit less expensive and is arguably slightly better than the Focus GX. Both are very quiet models.

Consider more memory. I'd suggest a 2x16GB kit.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
