Yes, you should be able to update the VM.

whats that?

It's for running macOS on nonmac if you don't want to go through the open core setup manually. I am just wondering should I select comet lake of I have ice lake but it's not in the list? Because I read they split one generation into two names so shouldn't it be the same?

Yes, I think so. Comet Lake is the 14nm version of 10th gen Intel. Ice Lake is the 10nm attempt before they decided to back port it to 14nm.

Ok good but the app is listed only for desktop.  I have a laptop.  Do you think it will it work.  I mean I installed it and opened it but after that?

I cant guarantee anything, I have no experience with MacOS.

But it is the same architecture, just the 14nm "upscaled" version.

Hey so I am using the OC-Gen X app and my processor isn't on the list. It's Core i5-1035 G1 Ice lake but there is no ice lake in the list. Did they rebrand it or something?

I think this is meant for desktops and not for mobile processors.

Also, ps. I would much rather you try building the EFI yourself, it isn't that hard and it is educational. Not to mention that you are more likely to get actual answers to your issues from places such as r/hackintosh if you know what properties you are using and not a prebuilt. There's also the added bonus of slightly better boot times if you're not using a pre-built ACPI.

Well after countless attempts and days worth of troubleshooting I still can’t boot. I made a clover usb and an OpenCore usb using the Dortania guide and none boot. Anyway this is my OpenCore error if you are interested

Did you use this quirk?:

Or ifthat doesn't work try this:

Quote

To resolve, enable NormalizeHeaders under ACPI -> Quirks in your config.plist

And if that doesn't work, try asking over on r/hackintosh

Lenovo Ideapad 5 IIL05 I think

Full specs as far as I know Intel Core i5 1035g1 Ice Lake (that processor is ice lake), Nvidia Geforce Mx350 2GB and Intel UHD graphics, 8GB Ram, SkHynix 512GB NVMe ssd, audio I am not sure Wifi some intel wifi6 adapter but I am not sure.

That's not a great combo for macOS. That GPU is Pascal based, so in theory it should work in macOS High Sierra, but that's a 4 year old version of macOS. It won't work for any newer versions of macOS.

So technically if I create a Clover usb with High Sierra I will be able to just install it but no update?

It might, but I don't know how well High Sierra would do with that GPU. You'd need to make sure the Nvidia web drivers have support for it in macOS, and that's the part I have doubts about. Even then you'd be stuck with an old version of macOS that is beginning to lose software support. Office doesn't even support it anymore.

And what if I have an official installation of Catalina straight from Apple servers running on a vm-will I be able to update that normally?

macOS running in a VM doesn't matter in terms of GPU support seeing as you don't have full graphics acceleration in the VM anyway. Hardware passthrough is a different story, but that's not something you'd be doing on a laptop.
