I have a GTX 1070 FE. It works wonderfully but is loud af (yes, I've cleaned it), but I rarely put it to heavy use. I also have my old GTX 960 4GB that I love, and I could get $350-380 locally for my 1070 if I move fast and sell it before the bottom drops out on mining the older cards. Of course, that's a big performance hit, and while I rarely game anymore, I do enjoy gaming in 1440p. Good luck doing that with the 960.

I have an idea for what I want to do, but I'd like the opinion of some of the techies I trust from here before doing it. Make a couple hundred bucks on a card I've been using for two years, with the tradeoff being that I may have a hard time replacing its performance anytime soon (especially if the RTX 3050 immediately jumps to $400+), or keep the better performance of the 1070, but watch the card lose value while I'm rarely doing anything that requires a 1070?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

The 3050 is already over 400$ so well just keep the 1070 and get between 100-200$ for that 960.

You are doing things that require a 1070 and from the way you typed this you know a 960 will not be satisfactory for the tasks you occasionally do. Which might then make those fun once in a while activities no longer enjoyable.

If you dont need it, sell it. No miners will actually want it, old and inefficient. Im sure it would be better to sell to someone who needs it while the market isnt good for people without money to burn.
