Budget (including currency): Not really an issue

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly gaming, a little coding and very light video editing

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hey guys

Tomorrow I'm planning on building a new rig. It's going to be mainly used for gaming with a little light coding and video editing. However I've a dilemma.

I've decided on Intel 12th gen over AMD Ryzen but I'm not sure on what CPU to go for.

Do I go balls to the wall and get the i9 12900k, do I go for the seemingly excellent value i5 12600k or do i meet in the middle and get the i7 12700k?

Given it's mostly for gaming what would be best to go for?

For reference I play at 1440p on a Samsung Odyssey G7 240hz panel and have just purchased a 3080 and mostly play Warzone and Vanguard at the moment.

If your mainly using it for gaming, I would just for the 12600k 🙂
