Hi am looking at upgrading my 8GB of unbranded PC3-10666 1333MHz Memory, the memory has to be low profile in order for it to fit under my heat sync and I would like 16GB. The memory will be used for gaming and general computing.

I am considering the following ram:

I have an intel i5 2500k overclocked

Which do you think would be better

Thanks

The first one is "faster" as the timings are smaller, but the difference is minimal. (as is the difference between your current memory and these.)

It will still run as slow as your current memory unless you overclock it to run at the new speeds and voltages which may or may not work.

You could just pick up some of this stuff http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-033-TG&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 It's about £20 cheaper and you won't really notice much difference in speed.

 eight. Is all you need

Do you know the OP's use case?

I just got another 2x4GB of RAM for looks (orange/white) alongside my current 2x8GB kit just recently and i've already had a case where it's gone over 75% load (Photoshop itself used 17GB+)

Get a Mushkin Blackline kit. Cas10/11, those timings are terribad. The only good kit posted so far was the Corsair option as you could probably overclock it to 1866 and keep the cas9 timings.

edit: Wow..the choices in the UK seems terribly limited or those sites suck on selection. Just get the white Corsair kit you originally linked, OP. That is the better of the two and will most likely get you to 1866 with stock timings and voltage. Also. if 8GB isn't enough, do yourself a favour and go for 2x8GB sticks vs 4x4GB sticks. Otherwise, you are needlessly stressing your memory controller out.

I'm a bit confused? Are you replacing the current memory and buying 16GB because you linked one 8GB kit and one 16GB kit :P

If you have the money and want looks then fine, but don't worry about speeds, you wont see much difference between kits apart from less money in your wallet :P (it's ~3-4 FPS in some games between 1333 and 2400 or something)

If you're just adding more then you dont need an expensive kit, just get the cheapest white LP kit you can find (which tends to be a bit more expensive than any other colour) but either of those kits you posted are fine and you wont tell a difference apart from benchmark scores.

I'd say your best bet if you are going for 16GB, try to get the sweet spot of Cas9 and 1866mhz and 2x8GB dimms. Of the brands you have available, go either Corsair or Kingston. Corsair to overclock or Kingston to tighten up the timings.

Yeah I want 16GB I would just intend to get two of those kits :)
