My brother is thinking about building a computer. The budget is $700 however he can got up to $800 but would prefer to stay within the $700 range. It is for gaming and normal computer use ( internet browsing, school work, etc. ). He has 1 1080p monitor and that's it. HE has an operating system so what he needs is just the computer. At the moment, he has a normal laptop and it can barely play games. SO pretty much anything while be a huge milestone. He isn't a Intel elitist or AMD elitist, he wants the best performance for the money.

Price: $700 but can go to $800 only if it provides a big improvement.

Region: U.S.A

Reason: Gaming and normal computer usage.

Exclude monitor and OS.

Many thanks in advance.

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3sUyK/by_merchant/

Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3sUyK/benchmarks/

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor  ($109.99 @ Amazon) <-- Great CPU for the price, overclocks well also.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($29.98 @ OutletPC) <-- Optional part, but mandatory for overclocking.  Also much more quiet than stock cooler.

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($94.23 @ Newegg) <-- Excellent motherboard, Sata 6s, plenty of RAM slots, USB3.0 headers, overclock compatible with this CPU, and Asus has great Bios software.

Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg) <-- Get the least expensive 4GBx2 1600Mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v RAM you can find.  Brand doesn't matter.

Storage: PNY XLR8 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($59.99 @ TigerDirect) <-- Great SSD for the price, you want an SSD to install the OS and manage your C drive.

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($54.98 @ OutletPC) <-- Can't go wrong with a Seagate Barracuda.

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card  ($224.99 @ Micro Center) <-- Excellent GPU for the price.  Will last him for a long time, and from EVGA, great company.  Anything less than a 760 and he didn't spend his money wisely.

Case: Thermaltake Commander MS/I Snow Edition (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($37.99 @ Micro Center)<-- Make sure whichever case he gets it is at least 7.9" in Width to fit the Hyper 212 EVO.  Don't spend more than $40 on a case.

Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($45.00) Here is a CX600M for $45, fantastic PSU for the price.

Total: $722.14

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
